Newfane Historical Society The Town of Newfane Historical Society is a non-profit organization that collects, preserves and interprets the history of our community, sharing our heritage through education, exhibits and special events. Our small group of hard-working volunteers welcomes those with a love or curiosity of the past, and an interest in supporting our community. Volunteer and share our history with others. You can also become a member or donor to help us achieve our goals.
We rely on volunteers of all ages, cultural backgrounds, and levels of experience to accomplish its mission to document, preserve, and interpret local history. No matter your interest or schedule, there is a place for you at the Newfane Historical Society. Volunteer experiences range from on-site activities, such as staffing of the Van Horn Mansion and Country Village, scanning photographs, data-entry, guiding walking tours, and presenting programs to local groups.
From those who make history to those who read about it, our society encourages everyone to get involved. History is exciting and fun, and there are many ways that you can help us bring the past to life. Please consider donating an hour or more of your time each month. We could really use the help! Newfane Lions Club The Lions Club motto is simply “We Serve”, and the Newfane Lions Club has been serving our community since 1942. Along with sight and hearing screenings, our club operates a large medical equipment loan closet, builds wheelchair ramps, and contributes financially to many local organizations. We also sponsor, volunteer and participate in many community-wide events. The Newfane Lions Club is committed to the students and families of this community, offering several scholarships to qualifying graduating seniors.
Volunteers can get involved by helping with fundraising events, food drives, vision screenings, and other hands-on service activities that make a real difference in the Newfane area. Contact: [email protected]
Newfane Leos Club The Newfane Leos Club is a youth-led service organization that empowers teens to develop leadership skills through community service and civic engagement. Members and volunteers participate in a variety of projects—from local clean-ups and fundraisers to supporting food drives and senior outreach—making a positive impact while learning the value of giving back. All Newfane students in grades 6-12 can join the Leos Club. Contact: [email protected]
Rainbow of Help "Volunteers dedicated to assisting others in fundraising efforts to offset the cost of unforeseen medical situations" is our Mission. Here at Rainbow of Help, Inc., we know that sometimes all it takes to change the world is a little support. Since our founding in 1999, we have been determined to make an impact - raising over a million dollars to date for families in need in Niagara County, NY. The Rainbow Of help, Inc was formed in 1999. We are a not for profit organization. Our group consists of caring people who have had family and or friends impacted by traumatic physical circumstances that required help above and beyond what is normal.
With our vast experience and contacts, our organization provides the support and advice you'll need to get your fundraiser going in the right direction. We'll walk you through the process step by step and we won't stop there! We'll also provide manpower on the day of your event. We require 100% participation from your family and friends once an application is reviewed and accepted.
We have been helping others for over 25 years. 100% of all monies raised goes to the recipient. We are strictly a volunteer organization. Contact: [email protected]
Pet Food Pantry Our mission is to provide pet food, supplies, and information to pet owners in the Newfane area, offering meaningful support during times of financial hardship. We are supported by members of St. Andrew's Church in Burt, St. Paul's Church in Lewiston, and Food 4 Paws WNY. Volunteers support this mission by organizing donations, packing and distributing supplies, and offering friendly assistance to pet owners in need. Contact: [email protected]
Newfane Community Food Pantry &First Baptist Church Food Pantry The Newfane food pantries provide essential groceries and support to individuals and families facing food insecurity in the area. Volunteers are vital to their mission, helping with tasks such as sorting and distributing food, stocking shelves, and assisting clients with care and respect. NCFP Contact: 716.778.9822 FBCFP Contact: 716.778.9216 St. Andrew’s Community Store Located on Main Street in the Village of Newfane, the St. Andrew’s Community store has served the Newfane and surrounding areas for over 50 years. Parish and community members staff this community thrift shop. Store expenses like utilities, insurance, general upkeep, and supplies are paid for with store proceeds, while any profits are given to the church. Cindy and Jerry Harrington run the store and are always looking for new volunteers to support this important ministry. Volunteers help by sorting donations, organizing merchandise, assisting customers, and creating a welcoming shopping experience for all who visit.
Olcott Carousel Park On the south shore of Lake Ontario in N.Y. State, you’ll discover the quaint Hamlet of Olcott Beach. In the shadow of Olcott’s famous Lighthouse is a wonderful vintage amusement park. It features a 1928 style Hershell-Spillman two row carousel. Five vintage kiddie rides, and a wonderful 1931 Wurlitzer band organ. Come relive fond memories as your children and grandchildren scream in delight and giggle with laughter! Olcott Beach Carousel Park, Inc. is a not-for profit corporation that was formed for the purpose of creating an historic amusement park reminiscent of the 1940-1950’s era. It is at 5979 Main Street Olcott at the site of the 1940’s Olcott Amusement park.
Park staff is made up of volunteers from the community as well as younger paid staff, all of whom are excited to make the park a vibrant and fun place for parents and children to spend time. These volunteers devote countless hours developing and maintaining the park as well as staffing the kiddie rides during the summer season. Rosemary Sansone serves as the Director of the Park.
