Love Rising, Love Growing

Love Rising is now in its third year. From the earliest discussions, the hope has been that members of many local churches as well as non-religious community members will support us and contribute their own energy and efforts to bring people together in support of our “peace takes community” concept.

We are thankful and energized to see that our hope is becoming reality! The number of religious organizations participating  for 2022 has grown beyond the lakeside communities of northern Niagara County and we are thrilled to welcome involvement of parishioners from St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Lewiston and St. Philip’s Episcopal Church in Buffalo, who are adopting the spirit of Love Rising and bringing it to their own communities.

Members of St. Philip’s Church are planning to host their own virtual Love Rising event on Zoom this year. The purpose of Love Rising is a synchronous fit with the St. Philip’s congregation’s spiritual commitment to The Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s belief in the concept of “Beloved Community.”

Intentions for 2023 include bringing our communities together to inspire one another and build bridges through conversation, with co-hosted prayer services and coffee-hour events at multiple locations, to foster understanding of each other’s challenges and goals.

The following congregations are participating in Love Rising 2022:
St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, West Creek Rd., Burt
Newfane United Methodist Church, Main St., Newfane
Olcott United Methodist Church, Main St., Olcott
St. John's Episcopal Church, Lake Street, Wilson

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Ridge St., Lewiston
St. Philip’s Episcopal Church, Sussex St., Buffalo.
